Never stop singing

For me, a special part of the heatwave we have been experiencing here in the Pacific Northwest has been the ability to venture outdoors in the early, cool hours of the morning with a steaming mug of tea to just be still.

In that stillness the other morning I heard a horse across the road begin to whinny.  After a pause, I heard another across the valley respond back, the solo becoming a duet.

As I listened closer I could hear the crow of a rooster join in to form a trio.

Adding to what was definitely now a barnyard band, a few chickens and a duck.

Rounding out the voices were several bleating goats.

A wonderful morning symphony found in the stillness.
I smiled widely.
I found myself wanting to join their praise,
to add my voice to their song.

God gave us each a voice and those individual voices matter.

Just think of the many ways they can be used for good:
To compliment, to encourage, to honor, to praise,
to love.

To speak out, to speak for, to speak peace,
to speak life.

Your voice is special and unique,
yours alone to use.
Your one voice is good.
One voice can make a difference.
But when we join our voices together,
they grow stronger
and louder.

The music we make with our combined voices
 is a glorious thing.

So sing that solo,
form a duet,
even a trio,
join a band
perform with a symphony.

Let your voice be heard as only you can speak it.

Just never stop singing
 the brilliant song
you were given.

  1. This was an incredibly beautiful post, my friend. I was truly inspired by your painted such a lovely picture :)

Thank you, sweet Mindy, for sharing with Roses of Inspiration - what a joy to have you at the party. Hugs!

  2. Thank you for the wonderful visual that you painted with your words which encourage us to use our voices to speak life continually.

  3. I'm going to print this out and hang it in my bedroom, Mindy. I'm truly moved by your words and moved to action as well. I've been putting off getting involved with a group that is working on something very important and I just sent an email telling them to count me in. Thank you!

Besides being inspirational, it's so beautiful to read and lifts your spirit. Such a talented writer you are!!

  4. Visiting from Roses of Inspiration... your post fits that description perfectly. You painted a beautiful picture of the symphony of praise.

Do drop in and say hello!

  5. So beautiful, Mindy. I used to hear a similar effect when I would walk in the early morning where we used to live. The robins started first and then the different kinds of birds each added their song. It was glorious!

  6. Oh! This is so sweet! Thank you for the wonderful post!

    Happy day!

  7. Beautiful post Mindy. Listening to all of the sounds of nature is truly wonderful. So much to be thankful for. Have a fabulous weekend.

  8. This was lovely, Mindy. Quite the picture you have painted using the barn animals, I could hear the beautiful music clearly, and what joy.
Your pot of tea early in the morning sounds wonderful. I love to sit on our front deck in the mornings and quietly watch the many humming birds feasting from our four feeders with a cup of tea or coffee.
Then, our back deck is the best place to quietly sit in the afternoons. I have places all around the house that are perfect at certain times of the day. I'm surprised I get anything done inside the home.:-)

Nice to visit with you~ Debbie

  9. Oh, yes. Is there anything more harmonious than the voices of God's creation? I agree we should all join in.

  10. Hi Mindy, I always look forward to your posts, this one is one of your best, love it!

  11. Oh to my ears as well. Love those early morning hours favorite time of the day. A truly beautiful post, Mindy...enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  12. Hi Mindy! Oh my goodness, this is what I needed to hear today. There are so many voices out there today, both good and bad. What can my voice do? And here you point out so beautifully how each of us should sing, and join others too.
I'm ready to run out there and SING!
    Wonderful post,

  13. Good morning, my friend! I just wanted to let you know that this post will be featured at Roses of Inspiration later today :) Thanks for sharing and have a beautiful week. Hugs!

  14. I love this! Especially this --> "A wonderful morning symphony found in the stillness." So lovely. And what you said about how our individual voices come together for something bigger and more beautiful is so true. I'm glad you linked up at #ThreeWordWednesday!

  15. Fantastic! Thanks for the reminder to use my voice to encourage and praise. I needed that this morning. I so wish I could hear all the animals you can from your house! Too city-bound here in Ohio for that beautiful animal symphony.

  16. A lovely post, but my singing voice is not so lovely. Still I believe when it reaches the throne room it is a joyful noise before the Lord.

  17. I'm writing this at 6am our street is quiet the moment, before the cars race down it with people off to work and Mum's rushing to get kids to school, but as I type I can hear the birds. We have our own symphony of nature going on in the quiet of a new Melbourne day - loved, loved, loved your post!
    Thank you.
    Wren x

  18. Mindy! HELLO! I am trying to think WHERE I saw this lovely post come up for me this morning...what blog did I visit to find the link here? And then I see that YOU came to visit me! Thank you so much! I wanted to leave a comment this morning but school has just started for me and I had to rush off to a meeting early this morning. There will be a different type of singing now for me, not one of birds in my garden or the symphony of silence, but of KIDS learning French, kids wanting to make their mark in the world. Enjoy your concert of summer!

  19. I know I've already commented on this post but I just wanted to stop in and say how great it was for Stephanie to feature it! I hope you are continuing to enjoy your morning concerts :)

  20. What an inspiring post! I love the analogy you drew from the animals song and our voices in praise to God. Perfect!

  21. So beautiful and a great reminder to stop and listen to what we have!

  22. It's a wonderful post and beautiful written! and encouraging us...
    also I love those pictures.

  23. Love your morning voice....sweetness from up the country hill... Love you my dear friend

  24. This was delightful! Love the analogy of a band or symphony. Also, cool tea pic at the top!

"In that stillness the other morning I heard a horse across the road begin to whinny. After a pause, I heard another across the valley respond back, the solo becoming a duet."

The solo became a duet. Kinda like two bloggers talking. :)
