Giving Thanks Friday

This week I am thankful for:

The beautiful golden, stunning orange, swoony red and creamy white of the Fall mums.  Simply beautiful.

The nurses and aides at my Grandpa's nursing home.  Some people work in nursing homes because it is a job, others because they care.  These people definitely care.

Crisp, sweet apples generously shared by a neighbor.  They are great by themselves but I am itching to bake some into a pie or cobbler.

Watching television (The Biggest Loser) with my 91 year old Grandma.  Listening to her commentary was hilarious!

Cleaning tips on Pinterest.  Just when I thought I could not resist yet another calorie laden recipe, up pops a how to clean a dirty toilet pin complete with pictures.  There goes my sweet appetite...

My tooth (apparently not the sweet one because that is intact) chipped in the back and not the front, which should make for a repair that won't show and replacing the tooth will not be necessary.  (PS: Tell me WHO chips their tooth on pizza?  Seriously?!)

Simply Balanced rice crackers from Target.  They are gluten free for those interested and all kinds of crispy goodness.

God's redeeming love that takes broken lives and remakes them into beautiful mosiacs.

What are you thankful for?

May your weekend be filled with many reasons to give thanks!

(Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good: his love endures forever. Psalm 118:1)

  1. Before we know it, you're going to tell us you're headlining at a comedy club, Mindy! I love your sense of humour! And I have no idea what was in that pizza, lol.

This week I will get to say all kinds of thanks because it's Thanksgiving here. One of our traditions at the table is to take turns putting on a silly turkey hat that the kids make and telling everyone what we are thankful for in the past year. It's always funny and touching and sometimes astonishing to hear what the kids have to say.
One year we were in a bit of a goofy mood and were saying things like 'I'm thankful for the Toronto Maple Leafs", "I'm thankful for good movies`` and my nephew, was 3 at the time said, ``I`m thankful for God and all our blessings``. It was quite a moment and we talk about it every year and it always puts us on the right track.
Have a great weekend, my funny friend. Hugs.

    xoxo

    1. I am still wondering what was in that pizza (should have made it myself, right?)! Happiest of Thanksgivings to you and your loved ones.

  2. You poor thing with your tooth! I am a nervous dental patient so my prayers are with you as you deal with that. I LOVE those adorable owl cupcakes! Headed to our church's harvest party now so I wish I'd seen this earlier so I could have brought them. Don't worry I will find another event to make them. Thankful for a trip with my hubby next week--even if it is for business. :)

    1. I didn't quite find a way to be thankful enough for it but earlier the same day my tooth chipped I got stung by a bee! Have a great trip with your husband. Hope there is some pleasure mixed in with the business ;)

  3. I'm thankful that I found your blog! It's so refreshing and uplifting. Sorry about your tooth - maybe the dentist can just sand it smooth and it won't require a crown or anything major. I truly appreciate dentists but I avoid mine unless it's absolutely necessary! Thanks for reminding me to be thankful today, Jan

  4. Hi Mindy! Oh, I believe the tooth chip. I cracked my tooth eating watermelon. True story! My teeth are a mess. I don't think my mother ever ate anything close to a dairy product while she was pregnant with me...

I am thankful for the bluest sky, seen through a tree of gold leaves. I am thankful for friends, and the truths they tell us about ourselves.

    Happy Monday!

    1. Thanks Ceil - they have patched it up temporary and will fix it permanently (at least until the next slice of pizza...) on Tuesday. Love your comment about friends and truths!

  5. Love your list, Mindy! So sorry about your tooth. Darn pizza. I am thankful for so many things, but the one I will write here is that HIS love never fails. Hugs!

  6. I love your posts. Especially the last line. "God's redeeming love that takes broken lives and remakes them into beautiful mosiacs." You paint pictures with your words!
